Well shoot, it's been too too long since I've added a blog post. I don't have internet at my apartment, which is a blessing in some ways, but it makes it pretty difficult to keep my facebook-y/website-y things updated. Anyway, this is what I've been doing:
-Working -Spending time with my family -RECORDING A KICK ASS ALBUM/EP -Occasionally baking stuff -A lot of yoga
Well I must say that my trip to Nashville so far has been something to write home about! I'm having such a good time and I'm sad that it's going to be over in a couple of days. We arrived at the airport on Monday morning, lacking sleep, but ready to honky tonk on Broadway! We played tourist for the first few days, visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman auditorium, and lots more. Tuesday evening, we were lucky enough to nab tickets to the Opry to celebrate Loretta Lynn's 50 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Wow, what a great experience so far! Only three shows in and I am pretty sure this is the most fun I've had in a long time. We have met so many great people in the last three days and have played to some real music lovers with a great appreciation for what we do. I was nervous about the concerts and staying with complete strangers, but after a few minutes with each family we really felt at home! I am so grateful to all the folks who've opened up their homes to us.
Well, this is it. My very first blog post on my new website! 2011 was a very busy and exciting year for me. I released my first album in October 2010, and since then I've been playing as much as I can to promote it. Summer was hopping with lots of gigs here and there all over Prince Edward Island. Some of the highlights for me were the Festival of Small Halls shows I had the privilege of partaking in, where I got to share the stage with some of PEI's greatest singer-songwriters, as well as Cape Breton's Gordie Sampson. So what will 2012 bring??
